The Draft Is Done: What Comes Next for Chaos of the Stars

Where we go from here—and why this book still feels sacred

🖋 I WROTE THE FINAL WORDS

A few weeks ago, I closed the document and whispered to myself, “That’s it.”

The second draft of Chaos of the Stars is finished.

Which feels… surreal.

If you’ve been following along, you know this book wasn’t easy to write.
It fought me.
It stretched me.
It made me rewrite entire arcs I thought were solid—and revisit wounds I thought were healed.

And now?

I am waiting for the final feedback notes so I can dig back in and finish Draft 3 (or, perhaps, the final draft…).

💭 THE STRANGEST PART OF FINISHING

Here’s what no one tells you about finishing a book:

You don’t feel finished.

Yes, there’s relief and there’s celebration. But there’s also… stillness. Tenderness. Vulnerability.

Because now that the draft is done, the story is out of my hands (at least for a little while).

And the question shifts from “What happens next in the book?”
to “What needs to be refined before it’s ready for the world?”

🛠 WHERE I AM NOW: THE WAIT + THE WORK

While betas are reading, I’m stepping into a different kind of work:

  • Sorting feedback

  • Revisiting character arcs

  • Honoring what’s true while sharpening what’s unclear

  • Praying over the parts I still don’t feel are fully “ready”

  • Teasing ideas for Book Three

  • Returning to past WIPs and seeing where the potential to finish them are

  • And slowly preparing for the next round of edits

This is the part where my ego has to step aside and allow craft to take the lead.
This is where I become a steward of my story.

And truthfully?

I’m more excited than I am afraid.

Because this version of Chaos is deeper than I imagined.
More raw. More refined.
And I think it’s the truest thing I’ve ever written.

✍️ IF YOU’RE IN A SEASON OF REVISION

Maybe you’re there too.
In the middle space. The beta space. The “not done, but no longer beginning” space.

Here’s what I want to remind you:
You are not behind. You are refining.
And the refinement stage is not a delay; it’s part of the calling.

This is the part that makes your story stronger, wiser, and sharper.

So don’t rush through it.
Let it sanctify your story.
Let it teach you something about surrender.
